HY5 Lafayette OCR Training includes running, various strength training exercises and obstacle training. For example, walls, multi rig, ropes, weighted carries, hoist, spear throw and more.

ABOUT

Spartan Race is a global series of obstacle course races (OCR) designed to test participants' physical and mental endurance through a combination of running and challenging obstacles.

Founded in 2007 by Joe De Sena, Spartan offers events worldwide, ranging from beginner-friendly courses to ultra-endurance challenges.

  • Approximately 5 kilometers with 20 obstacles, ideal for beginners.

  • Around 10 kilometers featuring 25 obstacles.​

  • Roughly 21 kilometers with 30 obstacles.

  • A 50-kilometer course incorporating 60 obstacles, designed for seasoned endurance athletes.

  • Spartan races feature a variety of obstacles that challenge different aspects of fitness, including:​

    • Climbing over walls​

    • Crawling under barbed wire​

    • Rope climbs​

    • Spear throws​

    • Heavy object carries​

    • Monkey bars​

  • Spartan Race events are held in over 30 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Races often take place in diverse terrains such as ski resorts, state parks, and rugged trails, adding to the challenge and excitement.

  • Beyond personal achievement, Spartan Race fosters a strong community spirit. Many participants return annually to improve their performance or to compete in age-group and elite categories. The series also hosts the Spartan World Championship, attracting top OCR athletes from around the globe.
